Team Member at Bowie State University
Class of 2020
Hometown: spring valley, NY
Major: Social Work
I choose to be a Social Work major because I have a passion and need to help people. It's a great feeling of helping someone accomplish something they couldn't accomplish on their own and it makes me feel like I have done something great for that persons life.
When I took my first campus tour the atmosphere felt like home to me. Everyone on campus was welcoming and was always ready to help so I knew for sure that Bowie State was were I belonged.
The New Student center is my favorite building because there is always something going on in the NSC, from music in the cafe/pub, org tables , playing card games in the game room and just having a great time with everyone on campus.
The exquisite Bowie State University is the 1st HBCU in Maryland and that is one thing that sets us apart from other schools in MD. The one thing that stuck out to me was that Bowie State's Social Work program is the only program in the world that had two study tracks of Spanish and sign - language and its a requirement that we take one of those tracks. This will make us more well rounded students when going into the work force.
