Tour Guide at Bowie State University
Hometown: Baltimore , MD
Major: Computer Technology
Concentration: Internet & Multimedia
I knew that I wanted to attend an HBCU because of the rich history behind freed slaves paving the way when there was no way to achieve education through a system that was against them. The fact that Bowie State was Maryland's first HBCU gave me a strong sense of pride before I even attended. I also knew I wanted to do something with computers and I really liked the look of Bowie's Computer Science and Technology programs.
Bowie State has plenty of opportunities for everyone to be successful and it's small enough for everyone to have a bond of some sort. I love how Bowie State is a family-like environment.
The New Student Center is my favorite building because it's the perfect blend of leisure, study/academics, eateries, student organizations and the game room. It's a welcoming and cozy environment that I enjoy being in when I need to wind down or buckle down to take the time to do my school work.
I chose Computer Technology because I knew I wanted to start my own Information Technology firm and back in my senior year of high school I really enjoyed my Networking elective class.
